Luca Xiriha travelled to Florence for trading purposes in the company of his family business and imported products to Malta. In one of his time in Florence, he was invited by the Grand Ducal court of Florence under the Grand Duke Gian Gaston de Medici to become a Consul for Tuscany on the Island of Malta. As a young married man, he took the offer with honour. The Grand Duke endowed Luca with the Knighthood of Santo Stefano and the Barony di Cerdone on the year of 1675. The title and honours to become a heritable factor for the Xiriha family, whom were knighted and consul for Tuscany for a number of centuries. The title was initially approved by the Grand Master, though never applied for reapproval thereafter in succession.
